A huge week for news, as the United States has now launched a major military attack against Iran. Long thought to be coming, President Donald Trump ordered the strikes several days ago, almost immediately devastating the Iranian regime. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei was killed almost immediately, as was the man chosen to replace him.
Despite the stunning military success out of the gate, debates rage domestically (and internationally) about the Constitutionality of the attack, the ultimate objective, how long it will last, what exactly unconditional surrender will look like, and whether or not Trump’s posture of non-interventionism in the 2024 campaign is going to cause some of those who voted for him to experience heartburn.
We also get into recent polling in Maine, which once again shows Graham Platner outpacing Janet Mills by a significant margin.
Finally, we make an announcement: Maine Policy Institute and Maine Civic Action are hosting a republican gubernatorial primary debate on March 24th in Bangor. The debate will be moderated by Maine Wire Editor in Chief Steve Robinson, and the event will be exclusively livestreamed and covered by the Maine Wire, including pre and post show analysis.
